Al-Sahir - an Og mage, Entry 3

Well at level 20 I was too afraid to head down to the 400k an hour draining spot. If you want to know where read the Starter Og Mage guide on Dizz’s diary of Dereth message boards. The URL is:

and it was written by Peregrine Heart. It’s a great guide and the only thing I think should be changed is that the lugian citadel is actually a nice place to go. He is on a PK server though so his advice on that matter is of course based on his server environment. It’s not bad advice just doesn’t apply to well to non-pk servers.

Sorry to get side tracked there. Well I started off at the 2 Tusker Guard spawn spot (you will find that in the guide too) and got a good introduction to tuskers. I also suggest that you learn your own way of draining here. I did after a level or two and it worked out great. It really kicks into gear when your magic skills are around 220. I also had my first run in with a somewhat rude person. The persons name was Crickett. I was sitting here draining the two guards and they stand at the top little window. I am not sure if they thought I didn’t see them or what but all of a sudden they start going after my tuskers. Now I know I know, they aren’t MY tuskers but I feel they are MY tuskers till someone asks if they may join. If a person asks if they could kill tuskers where I am I don’t mind. I’d happily ablige but if they go willy-nilly killing them without any sense of common courtesy I get mad. It may sound like I’m a prick but I like it when people ask if they can join me. It’s something I do and I would like to be treated the same way. Finally after I asked Crickett if I could have the next 2 spawn cycles so I could level and then log, they left. That was kind of them.

The next time I was able to play, which wasn’t for another 3 or 4 days, I thought I’d head down to the bad boy spot. I ran down there and I made it but at the end I took a sharp right and not a left. I promptly died when I tried to do any draining. Emalia came to help again. God, isn’t she a life saver? I have to same I am one of the luckiest vassals ever. Not to mention she is actually going and getting LVL 6 scrolls so her vassals can get level 7 spells when they have the skill. Can you believe that!? I’m sorry but I think more patrons should model them selves after her. She is the most selfless person I have met. With her help I reached my body and she also gave me more death items. There were some people there so I politely asked the person a few questions on was the best way to go about draining the tuskers. The characters name was Murazor and he was a great help. Nice polite person. Throughout the days I fellowshiped with many people and two that came to mind as probably some of the nicest I have fellowishped with are Archmage Philip, and Railstan. Railstan and I hunted tuskers a good bit together there and had lots of fun. Great team and he was a great guy. Archmage Philip is exactly the same, great guy, we made a great team, and he also gave me a couple red tapers so I could lifestone recall. Thanks Philip and thanks Railstan. Thanks Murazor too.

I life stoned back, got some comps from Mayoi, and then headed to the allegiance meeting area. I talked to people for a while and learned my level 4 and 5 war spells along with vulns and level 5 item spells. It was pretty productive. I then talked to Emalia again and she gave me a Faran robe and some trade elixirs. Great person she is. 2 crashes and restarts later I headed out with a allegiance member Optimum Arc to hunt at walled portals. I buffed up my jump to 192 and was able to make it over. It is very hard to do the trick right though to get in the proper position. I’ve found that my magic skills are quite powerful with a magic yield applied to a monster. I then went to outside accursed halls. Now this place is where I had my fun. I started fighting Virindi servants and puppets. These guys pissed me off to no avail at the Disaster Maze. A few of my deaths were to these guys. Very annoying they are. I thought I’d get some revenge at the outside accursed halls area. Well here is how the first battle went. Resist, Resists, dodge the war spell, resist, landed a magic yield 5, resist, resist, landed a cold vuln 5, resist, resist, you freeze a virindi servant for 100 points of damage, resist, resist, you freeze a virindi servant for 36 points of damage, resist, resist, then I finally killed him. It took a while but man it felt good to get revenge. After that I logged and I thought I’d write to you guys, my adoring fans. Thanks and I hope to right another journal at 30 somethin.
