Woot a WebPage!!!

First things first,  I put a web page to help archive these articles and to give me a place to provide additional information that doesn’t quite fit in this diary.  I’ll still post these diaries here on the vault (As long as people don’t start bitching about it) but from now on there will also be an enhanced html version of it online also.    The on-line version will always look better than this simple text verson. So go check it out and let me know what you think.

Dizz Hits the Dire

After leveling on luggies, matties and ice golems in the mountains of Mayoi it was time to move on to bigger and better game.  The nice thing is I didn’t have to move my lifestone tie or anything I just ran up the mountain to the Southern Dires portal.  I use to hunt here pretty regularly with my old mage on TD but hadn’t been here since Troop changed the dires.

The Portal

The Portal to the dires usually has a couple of spikey dillos or limestone golems guarding it.  You might want to fight the golems but other than that you’ll just run to the portal.  As soon as you can clearly see the portal this is where you want to buff.  If you’re heading here for the first time this is a good time and place to learn all your level 4 protection spells.  The exit of this portal has some very random spawns around that are in alert range when you portal in.  I’ve seen all sorts of things here from golems up to umbris shadows so be prepared.  When you exit the portal there are 2 exit paths you can take, you can run NNE or directly west.  Either way you’re going to be dodging and weaving things if you alerted anything around you when you came in.   If nothing got alerted you can go just a little bit west and kill some Tumeroks  that are close by usually.

What’s there?

My god Troop made the dires dire again.  There are a lot of baddies here that you won’t be able to touch for several levels but then again there are quite a few things that you can.  Here’s the run down

Golems : Coppers and Grainites seem to dominate the are but occasionally you’ll wake up an obsidian while you’re attacking the other 2 kinds.  Yes Coppers are definitely on the menu, Granites are a little tougher but you should be able to down them.  Don’t even think about killing an Ob!

Drudges : Lurkers (in groups of 3’s), stalkers and reveners.   Lurkers – Learn, love, level on em!  These guys give great xp and at level 15 you should be able to take them pretty easy.   Stalkers are also available although they do resist a little easier so be prepared to run.  Reveners at the beginning I wasn’t able to hit them but now at level 16 I can take them 1 at a time as long as they don’t chain cast on me.  Now thems good eatin.

Luggies : Luggies here are in huge packs of Giggas with usually a single Lithos in the pack.  Don’t screw with the gigas yet.  They are still just out of reach to make them an effective source of xp.  You can pull the lithos out of the pack though he almost is always carring an axe or mace so vuln him dodge all the rocks from his buddies then fry his butt.

Tumeroks : These things are a joke at later levels but at this level they’re easy kills, not that great of xp but with as much stuff as you’re avoiding here you might as well kill them.

Wasp : Gold, These use to be real common out here now they’re pretty sparce.  These are pretty easy at this level especially since they don’t swarm.  So put on you lightning protection and have at em.

Grievers : Virluetant (sp?) and harrowers.  Yeah right, move along now.

Evil V People and their Pets :  Yup now virindi and tusker slaves are here.  Later you’ll love these spawns but for now they are out of reach, please don’t wake the tusker.

Shadows : All kinds in huge packs.  Ack these things suck, just run.

From the list it looks like there’s no much there that we can hunt but it’s better than you may think just keep trying out new strategies to take down the bigger creatures fast.

Dizz’s Progress

From level’s 15 to 16 I almost exclusively pumped my Mana Conversion.  I’ve got it up to 100 base and I can tell a huge difference in spell consumption and efficiency.  It almost feels like your ability to hit a creature is somehow wrapped up with ManaC so pump it and test your results.  Now that I’ve reached 16 I’m going to work heavily on focus/Self  and Endurance.  I especially want to get my staminia up in the 150 range and start testing the mana tricks.

Patch Day

So much mage love,  I’ll have more to report on this later but let it be know that no matter what happens with the new armor and such I won’t stop playing a Battlemage.  I made the decsion to play an extreme template and I’m not going to bitch and moan about it if Turbine decides to nerf me.  Of course I do love a challenge, I’m probably one of the few people that actually have rolled Macers on multiple servers :)
