Dizz's Diary - Dizz + Lag + Tuskers = 1 Dead Mage

I know it's been a while since my last diary but I've had a streak of bad luck that has really cut into my leveling time. I was hoping to be level 35 by the time I wrote this but as it is I only made it 34. As always this diary and all the others are available at http://www16.brinkster.com/dizzarian Also there is lots of other information here, So if you mage definitely check out the webpage.

When last we left dizz

He was running away from the BSD with both fingers up, screaming in disgust. So from there he ran down to WaiJhou. I had made up my mind that I would hunt on the plains from here on out. So I prepped up and ran into the dreaded black circle. The frist thing I see is a pack of tuskers, how nice I'll get to test my skill right away. They charged I die. ok try that again. They charged I died. Now this is around Waijhou so I know it's laggy so I decide to move again.

South dires

I knew where some tuskers spawns where at in the southern dires so I moved down there. Wow what a great area, no one was around and I had tuskers all to myself. The xp was flowing and I was getting very happy. I leveled from 31 to 33 in just a few sessions of game play. Then the weekend hit, this is not a hidden spot and it's a well know spot it just takes a lot of time and patience to get to it, now there were other people here. There's only 3 spawns and if there's more than 3 people there it's camped and not worth being there so I had to stop. That's fine I took my archer shard hunting and I'll come back just during off hours and during the week. Well it's not that simple during the week now there are people there and the lag is very bad because it's a big expansive area with tons of tuskers and tons of spells going off so it's not just lag it's choppy. And if you die it's a 10 click run back to your body. Yuck!! I was at this spot till last night.

How to run in the dires

Since I'm talking about the 10 click run through the dires, let me throw in a little tutorial. There are many things you will encounter when running in the dires. The secret is to pick and choose what spawns you want to run through. I classify these as the Good the bad and the Ugly. So when at all possible run through the good spawns.

The Good

The Bad

The Ugly

So before your run cast all your protects on yourself and try to dodge the Bad and Ugly spawns by running through the good ones.

Back to the OP

So after being so close to level 34 for so long I moved back to OP last night. I've never seen it so crowded, there were people everywhere. Lag was bad and I died probably 4 times last night. These were not stupid deaths, One was I feel off a cliff I wasn't even near because I got lagged off. I think I'll be able to survive in the Plains I just need to find a good isolated spot away from WaiJhou.

Just call me a Pimp

Well after my last diary I decided I could probably support a couple of vassels. I didn't make this public knowledge but I was going to if I wasn't approached. Luckily the same day I decided to take some I had 2 people from other servers approach me about it. One came from DT, He seemed ready to leave the PK world and try out BM for a while on MT but when he got over to my server he found that lag is really bad and I'm not for sure if he'll be returning or not. I really hope so, I think he'll be a really good BM. My other one hails from HG. He is a very good AC player and a welcome addition to my clan. He's already achieved level 10 and collected all his explorer gear and will be moving to Mayoi very soon where I will show him my old hunting grounds. Anyway if your on MT and see him in game give him a hello. His name is Relden.

Focusing Stone

The whole clan went and did the focusing stone quest the other day. The first part is a lot of lever pulling and you really need someone who knows what the are doing to complete it. But with a good size group it's an easy quest. The hardest things to fight are the 4 magma golems, which probably live a total of 3 seconds when we were there. Unfortunataly as a BM I probably won't be using this wonderful pill till I'm 50.

The Stats

My stats are starting to get up in the range that I've been wanting them for a long time. What I want to talk about here though is Coord. As you can see I actually put a few xp into this stat. I did this at the suggestion of several posters on the message boards. The theory behind it is that it will cut down on the number of crits you receive from tuskers. So does it work? umm.. err.. hard to tell, I don't really buy into this theory but I had try it out and see. It didn't cost me many points and it's not totally wasted because it does pump your jump which is needed for quest and the Subway. Now if you really want to cut down on crits make sure that when you fight tuskers that your stamina is at least 3/4 full. I can see the puzzled look on your face but trust me this works, As an archer this is a trick that I used and it actually seems to work with mages also try it out and see if it helps you. Also you can see that my deaths have skyrocketed. I would like to say that I was trying some new strategy and failed or something nobal like that, but alas the majority have been related to lag.

Well till next time

Have fun and Blow stuff up!!
