How long have you been playing AC?
I’ve been playing since Beta-0… I took a six month hiatus…
How much do/did you play every week?
Initially I was playing 30 or so hours.. I had no job.. no school.. I was a bum..
Now adays I may pull 10 hours if I’m lucky
What template of mage do you currently Play?
I play a non finished Bmage and an OG
Is AC your first MMORPG? in not what others have you played and did you play a mage?
I played Ultima Online for the trial period… And yes I played a mage.
What was your first mage character? Do you still play it?
Hmm.. My first mage was Nalgene back in Beta-0.. Don’t play it.
How do you play AC? Are you in it to power-level, Dungeon Dwelling, adventuring, friends, etc.
I’m a social type… I enjoy adventuring and dungeon dwelling with friends. I normally only power level to attain a certain goal.
What gear do you normally hunt in?
I normally hunt in easily replaceable or non-drop gear. This way I can adventure pretty freely without worrying about losing something vital to my existence
What do you feel was the best thing to happen to mages in the game?
Drain Health 1 Without it we’d be fodder to almost everything.
What do you think is the worst thing that affects mages?
Hmm.. Lag?
Are mages overpowered?
In the games current state, I do believe mages are much more powerful than the other player classes. A mage can take down any creature once his/her skill gets higher than the magic defense of the creature… Melee’s/Archers.. who may have a attack skill a 100 points over what’s needed to hit.. will hit
every time.. but won’t be able to do enough damage to kill the monster due to armor levels and such.
What are your thoughts on Drain Health I?
Drain health/stam 1… It’s probably the most powerful spell in the game. Keeps us mages alive.
What template do you advocate for a starting mages?
Depends if the person is new to AC or is just starting their first mage character. If the player is new to AC.. I don’t recommend playing a mage type first.. Play something else to get used to the game. AC is a pretty complicated game, lots of things to actually think about, much less having to worry about mana management, spell research, etc. If a player is starting their first mage character, currently I’d have to recommend an OG or a Bmage. At this stage in the AC story… there really isn’t much point to playing another mage type. Although those two character templates take a long time to finish, when they do, they are the most powerful.
What do you feel turbine needs to do with mages, if anything?
Not much.. mages should stay pretty much where they are at.
After the primary skills have been obtained what skill do you think a mage should take? Arcane, Healing, Lockpicking, or MeleeD?
Depends on playing style. Personally I’m thinking of taking Arcane Lore or Lockpick. If you aren’t going PK healing isn’t much of a help. At high levels you should be able to keep you’re health up through transfer spells. I play as a low buff mage.. I see a lot of mages buff every last stat. I just buff my 4 magics, Focus, willpower and then my life protections. Arcane lore will help me in my play style, lock picking due to the sing keys. I don’t think mages should pick up melee d… I would be hard pressed to get it to a level where it would come in handy versus the things I would be hunting.
Care to reminisce? What has been the best patch or moment or epiphany that you have had in AC.
Best moment, when I finally figured out how the taper order went and how the spells were built from that taper order. This is pre-retail of course when everyone had the same tapers back in beta.
Comments? Shot outs?
Hehe.. No comments but I’d like to give a shout out to all me Silver Citadel types living on the Leafcull server, Diva for teaching me magery way back in the day, and to the host of people who’ve made this game so enjoyable for so long.
Thank you for taking the time to do this.
