How long have you been playing AC?

Since Oct. 1999

How much do/did you play every week?

Used to play 4 hours everyday…now every once and a while

What template of mage do you currently Play?

Battlemage

Is AC your first MMORPG? in not what others have you played and did you play a mage?

Yes, the only other multi-player games I played were Myth/Myth II (Damn good multi-player experience!) I happen to stumble upon the asheron’s call beta dl one day while browsing the gamespot website…been hooked ever since.

What was your first mage character? Do you still play it?

Samar, as old-school as you can get. This was before all the min-maxing stuff and he started with terrible stats: 82 focus, 65 self for example J. With him, I trained war, life, item, mana conversion, and SWORD!!! Nothing specialized. Got Melee D @ 14, creature @ 35 and arcane lore @ 50. I have run him through split-pea and was humored to find that eventually his melee skills will surpass his magic skills. Yes, I still use him to beat up tuskers…the uber-mob from the early days of AC…along with the magma golems at crater caves

How do you play AC? Are you in it to power-level, Dungeon Dwelling, adventuring, friends, etc.

A little bit of everything. Balance is the key to life is it not?

What gear do you normally hunt in?

Right now, Tribal Priestess hunts in a gelidate robe and some plate gauntlets. Makes baning so much easier

What do you feel was the best thing to happen to mages in the game?

Merry’s split-pea changed everything. It was extremely cumbersome to learn lvl 5+ spells. Granted some people had figured out the taper rotation themselves…but split-pea brought this to the masses. Why do you think in the early days of AC…people kept dying to mountain rats and ash gromnies? Because people could not figure out fire protect/lightning protect 4. This is also why it was a big deal when someone learned lifestone recall and summoning was awe-inspiring.

What do you think is the worst thing that affects mages?

Hollow-content aside…the thing that affects mages the most is the thing that has been there since the beginning…comp burn.

Are mages overpowered?

Yes, mages have incredible damage dealing ability and versatility…but they really don’t have a weakness that can be taken advantage of by someone else. Comp-burn and buff dependency are weakness…but not directly related to combat.

What are your thoughts on Drain Health I?

Incredible potential…cheap cost. Allows mages to tank. Actually takes some skill and knowledge to use to fullest potential. Nothing like tanking an entire spawn and coming out with all 3 bars close to full. Is it overpowering…yes.

What template do you advocate for a starting mages?

Well to someone completely new to the game…all-train archmage is a good way to learn the different aspects of magery quickly. A good mage that has some staying power in the long run would be a one-school spec mage. As long as that school isn’t item enchantment.

What do you feel turbine needs to do with mages, if anything?

This far into the life of AC…major changes are unlikely. And it doesn’t help that AC2 will be out soon. More diverse (unique) spells would always be nice though

After the primary skills have been obtained what skill do you think a mage should take? Arcane, Healing, Lockpicking, or MeleeD?

Lockpicking…after that, not many places are safe from a mage

Where do I start….learning lifestone recall/summoning for the first time

Killing a hoary mattekar and making the robe

Gawking the first time I saw a lugian axe!

Seeing an olthoi for the first time

Getting my mage armor

Getting killed by Baal when he was set loose.

Getting Tribal Priestess to lvl 50

Cerryl/Gallant Fox…my patron for 2 years…even though the punk needs to log in more! all the BM’s I’ve met on the server and the boards(Tehanu, Malleus Dei, fwh Tsunami, Sylence) oh yeah my vassal mjmishou!…and everyone that hangs out in Yaraq on HG
