Part VI - The Lugian Citadels (LvL 20-29)
The citadels are not for neutral peeps, you either love
em or hate em. I understand there are vast differences
between the different Cits, the one near Qual being the
worst camped one, I only know the one close to Baishi and
can only report here from this limited experience.
You guessed right, I am back in Baishi - City of ultimate
Lag. At the time I returned, my allegiance had moved to L'thorpe, nothing was left here for me. I tied to the
Baishi LS and ran to the Baishi Cit, coming across the
Golem Burial Ground. I tied to the portal there and
decided to hunt some quick motes. Two deaths and zero
motes later I decided my buffs are no match for the
brutal force I was encountering and that the dungeon puts
the relative slow speed of the golems into a new light.
They get to you faster. Since then I am a pure outdoors
golem hunter, LOL. I finished my way to the Cit, got rid
of vitae on the way, smashing some Lugies that were
standing around seemingly useless. I made them useful by
turning them into XPs. Once arrived I tied to the Cit
portal and logged for the day. I decided to leave Baishi
for good, took the web maze to Heb and the portaled to Qual, LSed there. So now I was tied to the Qual LS and
the Cit portal, good deal.
As a note, I am aware that you could go to the Citadels
at earlier levels, I do not like that for two reasons.
First I do not like the run there that you will have to
do all the time when you die and have no item for portal
spells. Second I have seen how poorly LvL 15-20 do there,
being unprepared for the stampedes, dragging stuff around
all the time, whining for body recovery help etc. Just a
pain for everyone else who trieds to have some fun.
After the great experience with the fellowship we had
decided that we would form another mage/UA combo to make
the start at the Cit less painful and avoid frequent
deaths. This worked really well, she hacked the Lugies
away and I healed and revitalized as a support mage, good
to get live magic up.
A good place to start is after the entrance when you come
to the crossing, you go left, when the road turns left
you hit two Obeloth that stand kindof behind the wall,
you can drain them safely from here, after a few drains
they come towards you, one vuln+war and they are in Lugie
paradise. That works well even for a single mage for some
time. You want more you go around the corner and go
straight ahead, you come to a room with three rock
tossing Obeloth, you can vuln them all and drain health
and stamina, then finish them with Light III. In the last
room two Lithos spawn. Around LvL 23 my wife and I
separated and I stayed in this spot FOREVER, killing
three Obeloth and two Lithos, getting 10.000 XPs per
spawn every five mins, not bad. Problem is, it gets old
after a while.
So around LvL25 I started to venture the Citadel and
found that with Life IVs and War IIIs I better stay away
from the Gigas, I went to one of the high spawn areas and
had some limited fun there due to fast melees and even
faster bow users who hardly ever allow you to get a kill
with war. I changed the approach to a magic use I still
deploy in basics today. DRAIN EM! When the Lithos
stampede begins I start draining one, two times, then
switch to the next Lugie, two drains, then the next and
so on
.you get around 1000 XPs per Lithos but the
melee needs to finish the kill, you just drain, drain,
drain
. With this concept I went to the Gigas room
and drained like a maniac, drain health, drain stamina, STM, drain, drain, drain
.and at LvL 29 I was still
draining. Boring, very boring.
I started to get bored, the Citadel sucked, melees got on
my nerves, leechers and loot suckers got on my nerves. I
absolutely hate it when melees/bow users try to use a
mage as a meat shield. I actually met some mages that do
the same, how pitiful, what a disgrace for our noble
community of mages. Anyway I needed to get outa this
place, nine levels are enough and I hate those damn rocks.
Rafferty, a mage friend was tied to the DM since LvL 22,
a smart man he is. All the time he tries to convince me
to go there with him, drain Tuskers at the 8spawn. I
heard of Tuskers. They hate mages. They kill mages.
Cautious as I am I wanted to bring up health and stamina
even frther so I always told him that I shall be ready at
LvL 30.
Well I was LvL 29, time to go I guess!
To be continued
.
Battle on friends. May Asheron look favorable upon your
path.
