Part X - Tumedion Fortress & GSA (LvL 40-43)
The BSD kindoff becomes annoying at times and I am always
searching for new areas to hunt for better XP yield.
About the BSD, I think it is quite useless to give a
detailed tour of the dungeon here, as it is always camped
I suggest you go there on a weekend day if you are not
sure if you can handle the place. Then you will have
consideable problems actually finding Tuskers. Body recov, always one of my prime concerns is no problem at
all. Just go in, explore the dungeon, once you know it
you may decide to venture the outside. The surrounding
areas are quite interesting and I shall report on that
one at a later time.
Brother Dragon reported his OP experience here and so I
decided to go to the Tumedion Fortress to give his
hunting spots a try after I just made it to LvL 40. My
first run there was a prime example how a run in the OP
should not be carried out. Poorly buffed and without a
real clue of the route I got killed and lost my AL 300 heaume. As I had to do some other stuff anyway I decided
to forget the body (first time I ever did not recover). I
got rid of the VP in the BSD and returned to the AB LS,
portal to Baishi, Web Maze to Hebian, I collected
slivers, a few shards, around 40 SIKs and 20 Rav guts (GCD!!)
from the mules. Went to Qual, took first portal to Sub
and traded like a maniac for the rest of the evening and
finally had my GSA and a Shadow Capt. heaume. I gave the
heaume to The Lady Morgan, my UA patron, I took the GSA,
AL 177 solls and AL 225 gold heaume and was all set.
The day before, Lit'Voodoos Helper at the 4Towers in
Leafcull had made my refined ore, so I found a Lockpicker
at the Sub and we went to the Mite Maze and I finally
after three weeks was able to complete the Imp Staff
Quest!!! It was a painful quest for a useless item!
But stuff was getting better, stuff was getting better
all the time. I felt now like ACs new golden boy, nice
GSA outfit, Imp Staff, just larned all my LvL 6 protects,
time to go to Tumedion Fortress again to kick some
serious butt. This time I was well prepared, took a
different run there and arrived with loss of only 5 hp,
ran into the portal all buffed up and .....EMPTY. Nice
buffing space though. The outside was much more
populated, unfortunately the Tuskers were in the
minority, I got like 500K XP there in three hours, sorry
but not enough for me. Did not die but had to run
constantly from those darn Obs Golems they charged me
permanently and were the main reason for the low XP yield.
Brother Dragon told me lateron that it may have been a
bad spawn so I returned the next day just to find the
same mix of critters and I decided to venture further
away from the dungeon portal and actually found some nice
Tusker spawns. I made my way through the spawns and then
saw the familiar blue crystals and then the first bodies
- OP BSD. I was back to my starting point and I decided
to stay tied here and use the OP BSD as staging point for
future OP explorations up to LvL 50. A few hours later I
leveled and called it a day, (LvL 41).
That same day Brother Dragon posted a discussion about
the correct Tusker buffing protocol and that changed my
AC life considerable - The Tusker Buffs!! I read in
Zayras journal that she never buffed the underclothes ,
thankful for the example and the good excuse I never did
that either but always had considerable problems with
more than two Tuskers, peak damage up to the 40s.
Now I changed to the following:
1. Rejuv VI + Armor VI + Bludg Prot VI + Regen IV (Regen
IV as an buff-running-out indicator)
2. Imp V on Underclothes
3. Imp V + Bludg Bane V on gaunts, amuli coat and amuli
leggins
4. Jewelry : - Barons Amult
of Life
-
Focus II
-
Willpower II
-
Endurance II
-
Mana Renewal II
5. Stats for health/stamina/mana (buffed): 180/230/300
That worked very well for me and in the ten hours
playtime after that I died about once, I can handle now
all Tuskers that can surround me and hit me. Normally I
had around 5 deaths in ten hours. Significant difference.
I embarked into Tusker-killing-monotony, the only thing I
did new was that I threw a couple 100K XPs int jump as I
planned to do the Major Atlan Stone Quests the coming
weekend.
To be continued.......
