Part XI - The Major Stone Quests (LvL 44-46)
I finished the last diary stating the fact that I put
some XPs into jump to get a base of about 200, so buffed
I have a jump of 220. I wanted to do the Atlan Stone
quests and decided to do the easiest first, the Sparkling
Stone. The dungeon is about ten clicks away from Ayan, so
I ran there and the main obstacle anybody has to overcome
is to survive the run. But with 150 run base I got
through ok and found the windmill, ran like a nut past
the grievers and Obs golems that guard the windmill
entrance to the vault, lost 40 HP and was in the dungeon.
The gromnies in there are no problem and as I was alone
without a group to join I decided to try to solo the
thing.
Key is to take frequent pauses to regain stamina and
rebuff, then you can handle it without problems as a LvL
43 BM. I got through without major problems, got the
stone and actually collected about 50 of the gems that
lie around the atlan stone and respawn every 20 secs.
Good money. Encouraged by this success I went then for
the Major Shivering Stone, the one I really wanted for my
GSA. At the vault close to Qual I met a group of five and
they invited me to join them. The full disaster of random
quest groups then unfolded before my very eyes. Nobody
had a real clue where to go from the entrance area so we
tried, fully unnecessarily to clean out the lower floor
and I was healing LvL 50 melees like a nut, killed two
Ravs myself but without much progress in sight. Another
group showed up, and thank god or we would probably still
today be in there trying to clean the lower floor. Key
is, when you come in, there is a gate leading to the Ravs, on top of it is a torch and right to the gate a
stone. You need 200 jump, get on the stone and do a shift
jump on the darn TORCH and from there jump on onto the
bridge on your left. I still cannot remember how I got it
done, one melee told me which keys to press and I landed
on the bridge. The rest was a piece of cake and I noted
to myself not to attempt to try to solo this thing again.
The same evening I ran The Lady Morgan, our UA through
the Sparkling Stone, no problems at all.
The next day we did the stone tool quest with a large
group from BrellClan, our allegiance on Leafcull, no real
problem for a group if you know which levers to pull.
Skip our leader got the job done well and encouraged by
our success we decided to do the Smoldering Stone at the
Crater right away, so I would have all the stones I
wanted, sparkling for the Atlan Staff and smoldering/shivering
for the GSA. We were alone at the vault and made a
totally unreasonable decision: Skip (LvL 55 melee) and I
can handle this thing just the two of us. Well, Skip can
but not me, we cleared out the nasties but the jumps
proved to be too much for me, not jumpskill wise but
technique wise, I am just not a great jumper, especially
not target jumping when you have to land on some tiny
plank in the middle of a pit. End of story is, I missed
the jump, fell three stories, all my buffs dropped,
flammas respawned: bad combination - dead mage!
Skip got my stuff and I was kinda pissed and decided I
really did not need this stone anyway. So I missed the
run that same evening, led by Warhead, or better his main
char Kamikazee. My loss, they had a walk in the park. As
a note, I put the shivering stone in the GSA to get the
nice blue outfit - bad mistake. It is not buffable
.OOOOPS.
Tuskers were hitting me left and right and that was the
main reason I needed the tool so bad to get the stone out.
Keep that in mind if you put stones in the GSA, not
buffable anymore.
Otherwise I cruised the OP, staged from the OP BSD and
killed Tuskers
Tuskers
Tuskers
more
Tuskers. I got bored and created a UA char to play for
fun, leveled her to LvL 20 in three days while playing
the BM in between. Nice if you need some change from the
darn Tuskers. I can only recommend that if you feel like
you are going nowhere with the template, the levels from
44 - 50 will be the hardest on the way to LvL 50.
To be continued
