Diary of Tokugawa the Mage, Part
XIII - Hieromancer Quest
Part XIII – The Order of the Hieromancer
I must admit that the great frustration began for me AFTER I reached LvL50 and
got creature. Two events greatly contributed to this feeling.
One was the fact that I was pretty much unable to get to a point where I seemed
to find a decent buffing regimen, leading to the unsatisfying truth that my
first buffs started to run out before I had finished the buff cycle. The other
was that I was killed due to own stupidity in the mage armor quest, therefor
unable to get my Hireomancer Armor at LvL 50. But about that later.
I am rather simple structured regarding my gameplay. Things are supposed to be
fun, I have enough headaches in my RL job, do not need a second problem with my
AC-mage. Having been a melee all my AC life I was not prepared for the problems
of the step buffing with creature magic and the mage was stored away three days
after graduation and actually used on and off as a portal mule for my new UA
character I was playing now.
I know, shame on me.
Also at that time there were some personal problems I had with my allegiance, a
great group of peeps but I felt that I had different paths to take. I had always
admired the Empyrean Guard, one of the four great Leafcull allegiances (EG,
BrellClan, Thase Skotoso, Silver Citadel) so I searched within the ranks of that
group for a patron that would fit my wishlist for a patron, meaning primarily a
higher level mage with extensive Aerlinthe experience, and I found a great new
patron in a LvL75 Og mage, with whom I also have in RL lotsa things in common.
Things worked out so good that my wife and I decided to move all our 10 chars
and mules over under Ghede, monarch of the EG. And we have not regretted this
ever since.
Anyway Lord Digimagus, my patron re-stimulated my interest in my stored-away BM
and I got him moving, went out and killed grievers, finally go the acid, tied to
the LS at the Calcimere Fortress and went looking for that humming portal. There
I was ready to go for that darn mage armor quest – again!
One of the walk-throughs states that in order to get the Hieromancer Orb, an
item I just would love to have you have to kill the guardien golems, these are
basically Diamond Golems that are tough guys through and through. Well I killed
four of em but the fifth put me in the box, meaning free LS recall. That was
very unpleasant especially as it is horrendous to get this acid and I had not
done the trials first before engaging the guardiens – bad mistake. And what
really pissed me off was the fact that the guardiens do NOT drop the Hieromancer
Orb, just the cooking dress!!!!!!!!!
The second time I wanted to do things different. After I finally got the acid I
stocked up with comps, enough for an army and transported into the Lyceum. There
the first thing I saw was a body, ”killed by guardien golem”. I gave the
paper to the trainer and off I was. I buffed in the entrance hall to the three
trials, using the buffing protocol I had finally settled for and entered the
first trial. The three trial dungeons are identical. The golems spawn at the
exact same locations in all trials. There is a total of four golems per trial,
LvL40 for the first, LvL65 for the second and LvL100ish for the third trial.
Once you enter through the door in the trial dungeon you have to jump down in a
pit (safe) and go a few steps to a four-way intersection. Go Left!!! You come to
a two-way, the left being a dead end and the right way leading to a ramp
downwards. Take the right and stop at the ramp. There at the bottom spawns the
first golem, they are not visible to the eye or on radar, find him with the
cursor and mark him. Then frost vuln VI, let him shoot off all his crap and let
him COME TO YOU!!! Then Frost bolt VI – dead! This works well in trial I &
II, in trial III you need two frost bolts and you can count on one resist per
golem. Tolerable. Now just go down that ramp and follow the corridor until you
see the entrance to a hall-like room with fires. STOP. That is where the second
golem spwans, find em and kill em.
Now there is another big hall above you with one golem close to you and one
further inside the room. From below vuln the one golem above you, wait until he
returns to his spawn point, then run up into the room and vuln/kill him. Now
when you go deeper into this upper room you see some pillars below you in a
valley-like area. Anyway that is where the fourth golem spawns, the one with the
crystal for the armor piece you need to give to the trainer golem. Kill him, get
the crystal, portal out through the exit portalin the lower room and get the
armor piece. Then portal in again and proceed to the next trial. Same setup.
The Hieromancer orb is dropped by the golems in the second trial. I actually
stayed there for four hours killing about fifty of them without success, then I
ran out of violet tapers and had to leave. BTW good XPs too, about 14.000 per
pop. Well I now have the armor, the allegiance will go to the Hieromancer Hall
soon, then I will finish the Exarch plate.
Thanks to Warhead, Battlemage at Leafcull who went to the Lyceum after I did the
first time, he found my body and returned the DI.
To be continued……..
