I just got a key for the open beta. I have never been a part of a beta so I think its kind of cool. (At least to me lol) It looks like I will have to wait until morning since the file is huge!

I played for a few hours today. I got my second bridge officer. I am enjoying what I have seen so far.

I debated playing STO. Kept wondering if it was worth it or if it will be a bust. Finally I decided there was nothing really grabbing me in MMO's right now so what the heck. Its worth a shot. I was going to get the EQ2 expansion but I want the mount and you have to spend $70 on the CE to get it. I am not sure I can get back into EQ2 or if the magic has left it thus STO gets the shot. Lets hope it makes the best of it. :D

12pm EST, a mere 1 hour till the early start begins. I am counting the hours till I can get home and play. But also wondering if I will get to as no one is sure the servers are going to be able to handle the load. Should be fun times..........or not!

I decided for now not to get it. I did enjoy what I played at first but it started to be go to a system and kill enemy x then beam down to a planet and more of the same. The battle around Star Base 24 (If my memory is right) was insanse with lots of ships both badies and other players. I enjoyed that a lot.

One time I did go to an uncharted system and flew around making discoveries which was charting the system. Reading the chat most people thought that was extremely boring but it seems to me to be a large part of what the federation is about.

I am sure there could be other things I missed out on. I did not have the time to play as a klingon.

I think it is neat that everyone is a captain and has there own ship. However I think they might have missed out on something. In SWG yes everyone could have small ships but what I loved was you could have multiple people on a ship. A guildie had the YT-1300 (The Millennium Falcon is a modified version) There were several missions where he would be piloting and myself and others would take turns on the turrets. You also could walk around the ships which I thought was cool. I think it would be cool if other players could be your bridge officers.

Of course what I just mentioned might be in Star Trek Online. I admit I never really read a lot of details.

I too am afraid STO will become boring after a while but decided with nothing else exciting me I would take the chance.

Having the guild together as the bridge crew would be awesome and they might add it later on but for right now the bridge is strickly cosmetic. Sure you can invite friends to beam to your bridge but they cannot do much other than wander around.

Played for 4 hours last night. I have to say STO has had one of the best headstarts yet of an MMO. An early server crash was followed by fairly smooth sailing. I have yet to have an issue logging in or being booted. A ton of people flying around. Some stutter on the ground but space combat again is awesome. Hopefully they keep it up. :)

Head start is over, full launch is NOW!

Over the weekend STO did have some more issues. Server was down several times and a queue was even introduced for a while on Sunday. So the rest of the head start did not go as smoothly. The in-game experience was great though. Looking forward to tonight and getting to fly my Constitution Class ship.
