I've been pushing these off, but I promised myself
once I hit 25th, I'd collect these notes and put it all
down. Here's the first of them.
The Trendkill Diaries
Introduction
First off, I want to take a moment to thank everyone here
for all of the input on my development. I dont
think I could have done this as quickly without this site.
A little about me
I started playing AC in January 2000, on Thistledown and
the first character I created was specd in War, UA
and Arcane, with Melee Def trained (later trained
creature and leadership, heh). I obviously didnt
have a clue what I was doing. This character topped out
at 28th level before I even realized that this was an
eternal gimp. I didnt have the patience to have to
go through learning 1000 spells again, so I created a UA
spec warrior, Lotus Dragon, in March of 2000 and played
him through until Wintersebb opened, at which point I
moved there and created an improved version of Lotus. In
the meantime I also got bored a few times and created
several other characters. My TD account consists of my
level 28 gimp Mage, level 42 UA, level 40 Dagger/Life
Spec, and a level 32 OG(I never actually played this
character, just ran a macro at night and while at work
for 4 days..voila, level 32
sad isnt it.). You
see, I get bored a lot, and when I get bored, I re-roll
and try something new. Needless to say, Ive been a
full-time melee for a year now, and as more and more
material is added to the game for mages, I decided it was
time to get back to my roots.
The Beginning: April 25th 4:09 pm
Trendkill is born a healthy, bouncing baby, 60/50/10/10/100/100,
War/Life Spec Mage.
My decision to go this route is probably a bit different
than most. Having been a melee for the past year, if
theres only one thing that I learned, its
that you have to spec Life Magic. All of my warriors spec
it, so of course my mage would have to. Now, why Spec
War? Im glad you asked. Every month more and more
content is added for mages. To me one of the most
intriguing quests in the game is the Mage Armor. Just
having read about it, I knew I wanted it. It had to be
Exarch Plate, not just that plain Thaumturgic crap.
After creating, I immediately went about learning my
level 1 and 2 war and life spells. I didnt actually
have enuff cash on me to learn em all, but just in the
nick of time, Lotus Dragon showed up (God I love Dual-logging)
and Handed me the essential kit
Mattie Coat, AL 118
leather leggings, AL 124 studded leather Gaunts, a Shadow
Garb Mask, 15 C notes, and 8 lucky gold letters. Off I
went to make my fortune.
I used the letters to retrieve all 4 explorer wands, plus
rings of quickness and endurance, a bracelet of strength,
and a neclace of focus. Sure, I could have created a
quick runner to do all of this, but its been sooooo
long since I played a mage, I figured it would be good to
get my feet wet on these quests. Besides, I was eager to
start blowing shit up. Ive never had Life AND War,
so I figured I could now seriously cause some havoc
amongst the local Shreth and Drudge Community. By the
time I collected all of these items I had almost reached
4th level. I figure, Its amazing how quick you
level when you HAVE TO kill everything in your way,
simply because you know you cant outrun it.
Ok, Original, I am Not!!
My next stop was to be Lin, but it was a late night and I
had to work in the a.m., so I logged off and kicked back
with a last beer before bed while I poked around the net
a bit. Of course, being psyched about my new mage, I
decided to look for some tips for the coming days. That
night I found Qs guide, as well as one or 2 other
nice collections of tips. While reading this material, I
decided to compare my template with a few in the guides
OG,
Grandpa, etc
then something caught my eye..WHAT?!?!?!?!?!
Lo and behold, turns out I accidentally created a
Battlemage
.hmm, I kinda like the sound of that. I
poked around a bit more and a link on ACVaults Magic Shop
led me to Dizzs site. WOW
a whole community of
people playing the same damn template
This could
only be a good thing
