Hey All, Well most of you know (from the mailer), that I started a battlemage. I decided to post a "how to progress" kinda thing for this mage, here goes: Template is 100 10 10 10 100 100, if you're new to mages I suggest 60 50 10 10 100 100. Specialize Life, Loyality and War. Now this template is hard from the beginning, especially if you can't get someone to level you. But turbine added some quests to help you early on, the explorer quests (read more at www.newoutriders.org/ac/hints/stamped/ I gathered some gold letters and completed the quests for the life and war wands, the focus necklace, the endurance and quickness rings. There is no willpower jewelry but I hung around Ayna with my main at the jeweller, and soon purcased a Arcane I bracelet and a Willpower II bracelet. Equipping the focus neck and the arcane I gives you 48 lore, find a willpower II below that req and off you go. You have no item at first, so you need regular armour. Find some sereth hide gauntlets and sollerets, a olthoi helmet and a mattekar coat + some good AL leather leggins. I suggest getting to Rithwic first, research your spells there. No need to learn more than level 1 spells, don't bother with other life spells than heal self I and stamina to mana selv I. They cost too much and with only 15 mana conversion (from the explorer wand) they'll cost too much to cast. Now, work your way to Eastham (follow the road, kills off anything with in yoru radar), once you're there you should already be level 2 or 3. Lifestone by the mill and hit the beach. Now, it's important to be carefull at first on the beach, even tho you may have started with 50 endurance you can still risk ending neck deep dead in a spawn you can't handle, with noone around to help you. At first stay along the grass edge, target drudge's and monougua's, your war should soon hit 85 then you can start targetting blue wasps and the fearsome gromnies on the beach. Gromnies can be hard to spot, not visiual till you are very close, so remember to ID any orange dot on radar. As I only had 10 endurance to start, and 15 extra from the explorer ring, I had quite some downtime, it took me long to regain mana but it should be easier for a person with a higher starting endurance. Never use more mana than you have enough for heal self I, that way you can awoid a stupid death if you lie down to regain mana and a beast spawns right on top of you. Shouldn't take too long to make level 5, about now you should be able to kill most tings of before they get within reach. So it's time to venture longer up or down the beach untill the golems show up (water and woods). Use lightning on water and fire on wood golems, they are very vulnerable and should drop in 4-8 lvl I war spells and are very good exp. Stick around this area, put a little exp into run so you can get away from the worst nasties. If you're in trouble never run deeper, run back the beach towards the easy spots. Keep at the golems, you should make level 6 and hit 7 fairly fast. Time to train mana conversion! you will imidiately feel it, especially for your level I spells, save 2-3000 xp for it through level 6, trust me it's worth it. Most people stay on this beach untill 9, but the exp starts comming slow, and I suggest a time-out for a little lugian draining. That's about as far as I have reached for now, my own battlemage just hit level 7 and I am about to take him lugiandraining, I will post that episode in a day or two. Oh, btw. Here's a little picture of Warhead's first milestone: ![]() |
